Virtual Empowered Mental Health and Wellness
You are invited to join a Virtual Empowered Mental Health and Wellness workshop series sponsored by The Department of Counselor Education at TCNJ and The U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. The workshop series has been developed and will be facilitated by Kimme Carlos, Founder of the Urban Mental Health Alliance.
This workshop series addresses mental health awareness, recovery and self-advocacy in an urban context and is limited to the first 30 participants. We ask that participants commit to attending all for sessions.
Dates: Four (4) Thursdays from June 25 thru July 16, 2020
Time: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM. Only those who have pre registered will be admitted to the training.
Workshop topics include –
• Healthy Minds in Our Communities Defines mental health in the context of the urban environment with discussion points on inner city stressors and common mental health challenges.
• Why Am I Angry? (Understanding Depression and Anxiety) – Defines depression with discussion points on risk factors, recognizing its onset and getting treatment.
• Managing Your Peace of Mind (Stress Management) – Defines stress with discussion points on stress management and the practice of mental health and wellness for everyday life.
• Speak Up! (Self-Advocacy)- Teaches self-advocacy for mental health services and crisis management for self, family and loved ones.
All workshops are interactive and each participant receives resource materials
